Praise for WeiDU:
-
WeiDU is THE way to analyze, modify, and extend dialogue for BG2. If you
are a mod developer, or even at all interested in the inner workings of
the game, download it, learn it, and try not to feel too guilty about the
fact that you haven't been using it for the past several months.
-
Once I got NI editor and Weimer's compiler it all started to finally make
sense. The scripting language is incredibly easy, and takes no time to
learn. Four days ago I couldn't even get a basic dialog working, now I've
got lovetalks, npc interactions, in-game events, and just recently even
cutscenes. Just need the right kinda tools, and to do it when you feel like
it.
-
Now that I'm getitng the hang of your WeiDU utils, I have to say that they
are the best thing since sliced bread. Absolutely fantastic and a total joy
to work with. I'm serious! I have to think that what you've made probably
rivals BioWare's in-house development tools, if they aren't already
superior to them. They're a joy to work with and it's amazing how fast I'm
able to do things that used to take me a very long time.
-
Been looking over WeiDU this afternoon. At first, I was bashing my
head against the wall, it was quite a leap to learn in terms of dialogue...
but now I'm rather impressed. [ ... ] hopefully [ ... ] (a MOD we're doing)
will ship in WeiDU format. Great work, great tool!
-
Everything works flawlessly, automatic setup is great, and uninstall brings
the game back to how it was prior to the install without a hinch.
Outstanding. Simply outstanding! Now that's what I call quality software.
-
This program prods the proverbial buttock go get it now!!
-
now i made a BG1 mod using WeiDU and it works great! easy install, easy
distribution and all that. thank you again for a great tool.
-
It's a bit rough to learn, but once you get familiar with it, it's a dream.
All of the syntax and whatnot just becomes intuitive. Trust me! Just stick
it out. :D
-
Weidu is fabulous btw, great work. It took me about 24 hours (not working
continuously though :D) to teach myself how to use Weidu and then make the
test version of my mod. Admittedly it's a very small mod at this stage, but
it's still pretty quick.
-
(btw, this version compatibility issue is awsome and that's the main reason
I finally got to WeiDU).
-
Weidu is so much better for dialog writing [than other tools].
- I use WeiDU for Dlgs and Installing because it enables
me to work a good 5 times faster than [other tools] ever did (through
its script format / features). Yes it is difficult to understand at
first. Hell, I had to get examples of the proper .tp2 format from Ghrey
and JC (Thanks guys) but spend the time it's worth it.
- Wes Weimer and co - Now that's how MODs should be written.
- I really like WeiDU, great job !
- I gotta say, WeiDU is a great tool man..keep up the great work
- I am also a member of a team that works on [another mod],
also with WeiDU. I absolutely love it and find it the only
viable Infinity dialog utility out there.
- Iīm a spanish modder, and i have to tell you that WeiDU is great,
superb... i donīt have words to describe such a wonderfull tool. I only
want to tell you THANKS for all, and specially for updating and adding new
resources for WeiDU.
- WeiDu itself is a remarkable piece of work -- I wonder if you've
gotten any feedback on whether Bioware's inhouse tools were as
comprehensive. I especially like the lean, mean, UNIXy feel of it.
- Since I absolutly adore the easiness of installing/uninstalling
feature of WeiDu
- First of all, I just wanted to thank you for the awesome WeiDU
script. It makes installing the updates, fixpacks, and tweaks so much
easier.
- And on an unrelated note, because it will never be
said enough times, WeiDU is a marvel. Just as every modder around there, I
don't really know what would we do without WeiDU these days :)
- However and having now the hang of weidu (through the Dos prompt), I
must say I am impressed by the speed at which I was able to get an NPC up
and talking.
- BTW, I'd like to thank you once again for bringing us WeiDU. Without
it, BG2 modding would be a real chore, and probably ten times as difficult
then it already is. Until now, I've mostly used WeiDU as an installer and
script compiler, but recently, I've had the opportunity to create some
rather complex dialogue and was quite presently surprised by its true
capabilities. Kudos for creating such a fine modding tool Wes!
